We hope you will enjoy using this bird register which has been compiled by Hans Rieder and is based on the observations of several local enthusiasts.
The aim is to compile a permanent record for the nature reserve, and to provide a readily accessible reference source, together with links to other sites which will give you more information about each bird species.
We are most interested in the birds which use the nature reserve to breed, to feed or to shelter, but have also included birds which have been seen from the site.
Our local bird population changes greatly during the year: winter sees the arrival of flocks of redwings, fieldfares and siskins, and spring a variety of warblers as well as martins, swallows and swifts. Many other birds are resident throughout the year, including wrens, finches and woodpeckers.
Our records have shown changes in the bird population over the last 10 years, with the loss of skylarks and lesser spotted woodpeckers, but several new sightings including sedge warbler, woodcock and little egret.If you see an unusual bird on the nature reserve, or would like to contribute to this register in any other way, please get in touch via this website.
