Keith Dodd noticed this new ant hill on the Nature Reserve this week. It is one of many, often reaching 2 or 3 feet tall, and they are the reason we have a thriving population of Green Woodpeckers on the site, for ants are their favourite food.
Ants are common on the reserve, only one species has been actually identified. Seen spring to autumn.
