Dear Friends
Open Meeting
This is to remind you that our next Open meeting is on
Thursday 15th April 2010 starting at 6.30pm
This is an open-air meeting, walking around the site while hearing your views. We will meet at Mill View Gardens by the toll bridge and then walk along the riverside path to the entrance. We'll need to finish soon after 8pm.
(If the surfacing work on the riverside path is not complete we will need to start from the upper South Avenue entrance, parking opposite Leafenden Close).
I do hope you'll be able to come, because we need to know what you think about recent work on the site, and future plans for the reserve, as our Management Plan is due to be reviewed in 2011.
Dawn Chorus walk
This is on
Sunday 9th May 2010
starting at 5am from Mill View Gardens. This is an unforgettable experience. We hope to have our bird enthusiasts available to guide you. Please bring your binoculars.
For anyone who is really keen an advance party will meet an hour earlier, at 4am.
We should finish by 7am, and hope to arrange early opening of the cafe in the park for those who'd like a bacon butty.Perhaps you could let me know if you do, so we have an idea of numbers.
Spring volunteer work
Saturday 12th June 2010 - 9am till noon
We would like to repeat last Spring's very successful working party doing some tidying up work around the reserve. This will include balsam pulling, clearing the "rides" where the hawthorn was cut 2 years ago, maintaining the hedge, and removing any unwanted saplings.
Last year there were 15 of us, including 3 young people, and we got a huge amount done in under 3 hours.
We can provide equipment but please bring gloves and your favourite secateurs if you wish.
We'll start from the South Avenue entrance opposite Leafenden Close, and work mainly in the area near the wooden bridge over the stream. If you can't manage 9am just turn up when you can.
If you have any queries about any of these activities please get in touch.
Best wishes
