The reserve was granted status as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) on Jan 3, 2008. The Mayor will be attending the official launch on the reserve at 10am on Sunday, May 11. All are welcome.
Priorities for work on the reserve have been agreed and tabulated.
Grant applications have been made to 4 separate funding bodies.
Two Action days have been funded by WildDerby:
Scrub clearance on Tuesday, March 4 by BTCV, and
Hedge planting by a group of schoolchildren on Tuesday,
March 18, organised by Groundwork.
We are waiting to hear if the other applications have been successful.
They include funding for information Boards and Notices for the site.
A spring walk on the reserve is planned for Sunday, April 6 at 10am – 12
noon (meet at the toll bridge).
A Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Discovery day will be held on
the afternoon of Sunday, October 26.
An open meeting will be held in Darley Abbey Village Hall on Wednesday, May 7 at 7.30pm. Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend. We need to hear your views.
