Keith Dodd reports:-

We were delighted to see a group of 50 sand martins during the Spring bird walk on Sunday 24 April 2016. They were feeding over the river upstream from the pasture pump and were seen to be using holes in the sandy river bank.

They have nested there in the past, but not for the last 6 or 7 years.

This was the highlight of our early morning walk. There were 12 of us, expertly lead as usual by Paul Highman; a total of 30 bird species were recorded.

Paul has been our bird recorder for 6 years and this was his 200th visit to the reserve. He sends us meticulous records of his sightings every month which form the basis of our Bird Register. Our sincere thanks to Paul who has enthused so many of us over the years.

The following species have been sighted. The number of each species was not recorded
